He had just received wonderful news: his uncle, who lived in the distant capital of Shangjing, had been promoted.
Li Zhibai packed his bags overnight and set off for Shangjing with his servants to study. The journey was bumpy but otherwise uneventful. Who could have guessed that on his very first day in the capital, his servant would die for no apparent reason, and he would run into a murderer?
The terrible news hit Li Zhibai like a bolt from the blue. He was stunned for quite a while, but life had to go on, and he still had to study, didn't he?
He must have stepped in some spectacularly lucky dog droppings, because Li Zhibai got himself into trouble again. Looking at the handsome young man, who was smiling and chatting away, Li Zhibai felt a chill rise in his heart.
The young man smiled without warmth. “Whatever your name is, Chestnut something? Or Rat? Get over here.”
Li Zhibai looked around, bewildered.
“I mean you.”
“Me?” Li Zhibai pointed at himself. “But I’m not a chestnut or a rat. My name is Li Zhibai.”
The young man snorted with laughter. “I don’t care. I told you to come here, so get over here.”
