Wait, You Mean That Thing Isn't an Affection Meter?!

When she received an invitation to the closed beta of "Doki Doki: Detective Romance Game,"

seasoned otome game player Yue Jiangyao said, "Piece of cake!"

[First playthrough: A white-haired beauty fan chooses a top killer

She only made a casual move, but the number above his head shot up to 99.

Yue Jiangyao: Ha! This guy's a simp! And she's a genius!

Then he killed her, this so-called simp.]

Yue Jiangyao: "..."

It's fine. The problem is the guy. She'll just pick someone else!

[Second playthrough: She chooses a sniper who looks so gentle

Then his affection level never goes above 30.]

[Third playthrough, fourth playthrough, fifth playthrough...]

Yue Jiangyao was completely broken.

Are these romance targets seriously not bugged?

Who on earth manages to become universally disliked in an otome game?!

Just as she was utterly despairing and about to uninstall this garbage game,

one of her romance targets confessed to her.

Yue Jiangyao: "…?"

W-wait!

That thing over his head wasn't an affection meter?!

[Notes for readers:

1. My own take on the timeline. Detail-oriented readers, take note!

2. Pairing undecided (I haven't chosen, I'm not asking readers to bet on a pairing).

3. Rescuing the police academy trio from their tragic fate, butterfly effect; not rescuing Akemi.

4. Any out-of-character writing is on me. I feel like every character is heading toward an otome-style route, so OOC is inevitable.

You don't need to tell me if you drop the story. Please read peacefully, thanks.

5. Inspired by a post I came across while browsing a certain app.]
