[A story about winning back your lover / Reconciliation after a breakup / Two strong leads / Novella / A shamelessly self-indulgent work]
(I)
Yun Qing is the youngest master at Qingcheng Mountain, distinguished in bearing and profound in cultivation.
Yet, for some reason, he is always one step short of ascending to godhood.
To grasp the secrets of ascension, he descends the mountain to travel the world and happens upon a young boy named Qin Chou.
And so Qin Chou becomes his only disciple. They come to know and cherish each other, never once parting.
Yun Qing thinks the character “Chou” is unlucky, so he changes the boy's name to An.
He hopes Qin An will live a happy, peaceful life, blessed with good fortune.

In the end, Yun Qing's wish does not come true.
To avenge his adoptive father, Qin An joins forces with demons and attacks Yun Qing's sect.
Yun Qing himself is imprisoned and humiliated day after day.
Qin An says his adoptive father was also a master at Qingcheng Mountain, but Yun Qing cruelly murdered him to obtain a treasure and improve his cultivation.
The entire Qingcheng Mountain sect is guilty.
Yun Qing is stunned.
He wants to say, “You've got it backwards. It's the other way around.”
But he has no chance to explain.
Qin An uses the demons, only to be used by them in turn.
The world falls into utter chaos.
Unable to bear the suffering of all living beings, Yun Qing sacrifices his own flesh and blood to the Heavenly Dao, restoring peace to the Three Realms.
At the same time, the heavenly tribulation of ascension descends.
Yun Qing has accumulated enough merit.

When Yun Qing and Qin An meet again, one is Lord Yun Qing, exalted in the palaces of the Ninth Heaven.
The other is a demon king who has fallen to darkness because of his obsession.
Qin An's eyes redden as he gazes at him, lost in longing.
“Master, could you give me one more chance?”
“I swear I'll make it all right.”
Yun Qing looks at the person before him and sneers.
“Qin Chou, are you joking with me?”
