Lin Ruo, the top student in the grade, happened to be placed in the same class as Yan Xu when students were sorted into classes at the start of their first year of high school. Yan Xu was also the top student in the grade, and had a sharp tongue.

After an accident injured Lin Ruo’s right hand, he was left with lasting aftereffects. The former golden boy fell from grace overnight.

He developed depression and was later bullied, then developed claustrophobia.

Just as Lin Ruo was falling into despair, Yan Xu became his light. He protected him and held him tight when he had an episode.
