Good Fortune

Yan Shuangxi was an abandoned baby whom Yan Linmen had found in the snow.

He gave her a surname, a home, and an older brother everyone envied.

Yan Linmen, the young master of the Yan Escort Agency, challenged Blackwind Stronghold alone at seventeen and became famous across the northern and southern escort routes at twenty.

Everyone in the martial world knew that Young Master Yan had three kinds of escort jobs he would never take: dirty jobs, secret jobs, and jobs that would keep him away from home for more than a month.

Because he had to go home and read his little sister a bedtime story.

But when A Xi came of age and prospective suitors crowded their doorstep,

this composed, self-controlled young master of the escort agency lost his cool in front of everyone for the first time.

He snapped the peach branches offered by one eligible suitor after another. His voice was cold as ice:

"The girl I raised, and you think any of you are worthy of her?"

Later, on a moonlit night, he pinned her between the bookshelves in the escort agency's library. He still carried the dust and blood of the road from his return, but his eyes churned with a dark tide she had never seen before.

"A Xi," he asked, his Adam's apple bobbing and his voice hoarse, "do those books of wisdom ever teach you..."

"What a brother should do if he doesn't want to be a brother anymore?"

-- I found a star in the snow, and from that moment on, I vowed to give everything I had to keep her shining forever in my sky.

-- Her name is A Xi. My little sister, A Xi.
