Bian Li is the captain of Special Management Bureau Action Team One.

One day, on his way to work, he casually caught a fluffy little troublemaker. When he touched it, a pair of ears popped out. Looking closer, he realized it was one of the test subjects he had once taught.

Oh no!

He rushed to work, only to hear that the beastfolk test subjects had escaped. He had no choice but to take his team and round up the thirty-two fluffballs he had personally trained.

The good news: Bian Li is highly skilled at his job.

The bad news: His teaching skills are just as impressive.

He had taught all thirty-two fluffballs an impressive array of abilities. After Bian Li and his team rounded them up, battered and exhausted, they counted thirty-one.

One was missing.

He poked the kitten curled up asleep in his arms.

"Where's your class monitor?"

The kitten yawned and sleepily glanced at its former teacher.

"Right behind you."

An amused voice sounded from behind Bian Li.

"Teacher, were you looking for me?"

Test Subject 157 had lived in a cramped, four-walled laboratory since the day he was born. There was no respect, no freedom, and no love. The laboratory taught them survival of the fittest, where the strong preyed on the weak. Then one day, a stranger pushed open the cold iron door.

"Are you the new batch of test subjects?"

The man smelled of gunpowder and blood, yet his embrace was warmer than anything the test subjects had ever known.

He was transferred as punishment for six months. Those six months were the happiest in the lives of the thirty-two test subjects.

Every test subject respected him.

Only 157 was different. He wanted to be with this man forever, by any means necessary.

"All these years, did you ever look for me, Teacher?"

Note: There are lots of fluffy characters in this story, but the top is a type of marine creature.

The beastfolk test subjects' species are not closely connected to the main plot.

The bottom is straight but gets turned gay. Please mind the warning!

The beastfolk test subjects go through a six-month growth period. The romance begins after it ends.

The teacher relationship is only temporary. The bottom spends more time as the top's team leader.

The top stays undercover by the bottom's side early on, then gets exposed later.

The entire setting is fictional.

It's set in the future, but not in a spacefaring future.
