[Two-faced, darkly cunning god of slaughter × airheaded cutie who loves faking her death and running away]
Ao Miaoyin hatches from an egg in the Primordial World, becoming a little golden dragon who hasn't yet broken out of her shell. Her parents leave her by the Kunlun Heavenly Pool to hatch.
The good news: the Heavenly Pool is rich in spiritual energy, and Nezha is there too, reincarnating.
The bad news: her family has been sworn enemies of the god of slaughter Nezha for generations.
She awkwardly spends forty-nine years by the Kunlun Heavenly Pool with her family's mortal enemy.
Nezha reincarnates, and she hatches.
Fortunately, Nezha leaves first, much to Ao Miaoyin's relief.
If a lotus and a dragon came face to face, the god of slaughter might casually pull out her dragon tendons too.
*
After hatching, Ao Miaoyin becomes a disciple of the Primordial Lord of Bixia.
She is exceptionally gifted, but makes little progress on the Great Dao. The Primordial Lord of Bixia casts a divination for her and says she has yet to overcome her romantic tribulation, then sends her to the Fate Office in the Ninth Heaven to pick up a romance-tribulation script.
Ao Miaoyin goes.
The mortal world is full of troubles.
She becomes Shen Lan Yin, the chancellor's daughter who loves the Crown Prince, but whose love goes unreturned.
On a night of ghostly flames and dark underworld, with blood raining down from the sky,
Young General Li Xike whispers, "If only you could give me even a little of your love."
Shen Lan Yin looks up at him, her eyes full of confusion.
Li Xike grits his teeth and smiles. "Never mind. I mean, if I die, you'll have to be buried with me."
What a born bad seed.
Through a twist of fate, Shen Lan Yin ends up marrying that bad seed.
On their wedding day, demons from beyond the realms attack.
Li Xike pierces a demon with his spear, but she is the one who dies. A huge hole is torn through her chest, and even breathing hurts.
The spoiled, willful young lady Shen Lan Yin dies on her wedding night.
Dragon girl Ao Miaoyin, meanwhile, overcomes her romantic tribulation and achieves the Great Dao, finally returning to Mount Tai to resume her life as a little goddess.
She casts off the mortal world and couldn't be happier.
After returning to the mountain, she vaguely hears that a certain divine lord caused quite a stir in the mortal realm.
He slew demons and monsters, ascended to godhood on a night of ghosts, and arrived in the Ninth Heaven covered in blood.
His murderous aura barely settled before he turned the world upside down searching for his mortal wife.
No one knows where his wife went after her soul left her body.
The divine lord can't find her, and is so furious he could tear a hole through the sky and earth.
Ao Miaoyin sighs at how harmful romantic tribulations can be. Fortunately, she knows the Fate Official well and asked for a script that wouldn't break her heart.
*
The demons from beyond the realms lead an army of monsters in an assault on the Ninth Heaven.
Even the Primordial Lord of Bixiao takes her along to fight.
She is of little use in battle. Through the layers of clouds and mist, she watches a young man in black hair and red robes struggling against the demons.
Her friend says, "That's the Great God Nezha, who caused such a commotion back then. The demons killed his wife, so now that the enemies meet, their eyes burn with hatred."
Ao Miaoyin nods, still confused, then looks up and meets those cold, dark eyes.
At some point, the young man has planted his spear and is staring at her from afar. He gives her an evil smile and says, "I've found you, Shen Lan Yin."
Suddenly she remembers the mortal realm. After a night of passion, he was covered in blood and whispered in her ear with a sigh, "Liar. Try leaving me again."
So that year, she had used the Third Prince to overcome her romantic tribulation.
She kissed him, seduced him, took everything she wanted, then turned on her heel and ran for good.
Ao Miaoyin thinks in panic that Nezha holds grudges like no one else. With new and old scores to settle, she will probably be beaten into ribbons.
*
Nezha never cried, even when he cut off his flesh and carved out his bones.
Years later, the day came that all the gods and buddhas would remember: his karma rebounded upon him, black energy roiling around him, his murderous intent reaching the heavens. But the moment he saw the girl, it all turned to bloody tears, falling in great drops between the clouds.
Darkly cunning, flirtatious god of slaughter × airheaded cutie who loves faking her death and running away
If you can't beat them, run (not really)
My own take on mythology: completely made up, with a mountain of original settings. Apologies for the OOC.
The author isn't a mythology purist. You can read it as xianxia fantasy.
Li Xike is Nezha, Shen Lan Yin is Ao Miaoyin, three lifetimes across three worlds.
A mischievous, fair-skinned, red-lipped Nezha who only kills and never saves, with the scent of lotus about him.
Written to indulge my tastes, probably a sweet romance ( )
The plan was to write a trilogy about the Lotus-Born, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, and Yang Jian's Journey to the West, but for now only one blurb is out.
There may be brief crossovers in the story, so consider this a warning.
Little peach blossom demon × Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Fate Immortal Lord × Divine Judge (later deposed)
Theme: Devotion that endures across past and present lives
