The fact that this half-baked tsukumogami had once been a rogue time-traveling army member came to light. They had a huge fight, he left the citadel, and the saniwa worried herself sick.

The special investigation of Heian-kyo began. The government's new inspector, his sword gleaming with a chill that could freeze fourteen provinces, turned back and smiled obediently at her.

"Long time no see, my lord. Have you passed the English proficiency test yet?"

The troublemaker actually passed the civil service exam, returned to the citadel in glory, and became an inspirational success story that moved the entire Touken Ranbu community.

* The protagonist is the original sword-type tsukumogami Zhu Ran.

* A large ensemble cast, with both sweetness and angst. A lighthearted comedy with no romantic pairings.

* There's so much original content early on that I can't really work the canon material in. Later, depending on how things go, I might add a little canon material for fun. If I can't, just pretend I never said that.

Amatsuki Shuya had always thought his older brothers were a gay couple.

For one thing, all three brothers had different mothers, so there was no obligation to tell him.

For another, Shuya had been sent to Yokohama as a child, and the last time he went back was for the old man's funeral. There was no one to tell.

When he finally returned to Tokyo, he thought all he had to do was hide out in the countryside and watch his two older brothers' love-and-hate drama from afar.

But his eldest brother was seriously injured and unconscious, while his second brother tried to die for love, then ran away from home. As the only surviving third son, he was dragged back from the countryside by his second brother and ended up taking over the company as its new chairman.

A gay couple? My brothers are the leopard-cat boys I picked for myself.

I'm grateful for the blessings of a nontraditional family.

Amuro Toru, the Beika district's hard-working king, came home after working three jobs and received a friend request late at night.

The name was Amatsuki Shuya, and the profile picture was a penguin.

What? Is this guy nuts?

Amuro Toru was baffled and clicked Decline.

Then the next day, his superior asked why he hadn't added his new partner's contact. They'd brought in an expert from the Armed Detective Agency.

He wanted to print out the request and slap it onto his superior's face. Who had ever heard of Public Security agents communicating through VX? And who had a penguin for a partner?

Later, with their engagement approaching, the penguin himself was going to take Amuro Toru by the arm and bring him to meet his two legendary older brothers.

As Kenji Hagiwara helped him pick out a tie, he sighed.

"Jinpei's gone to First Division, little Hiromitsu's become an executive assistant, and the class rep's earning money for baby formula. Everyone from our class has a bright future.

But the top student at the police academy still has the most impressive future of all. He's become the Amatsuki Group's cherished son-in-law."

Amuro Toru, no, Rei Furuya, nodded, his face breaking into an utterly sincere smile of happiness.
