In one fan-fiction universe in the DC world, there is a Jason Todd like this.
His dad ran off when he was little, and his mom went crazy. Fortunately, the kind of crazy she had was a perfectly normal social condition in beautiful Gotham. For one reason or another, the family was in dire financial straits. They sold their house on Park Row, and Catherine and Jason ended up in the slums.
Jason thought they would have to struggle for a long time, but then, one day, a clear-headed Catherine took him by the hand and brought him to an orphanage: the Gotham House.
From that day on, Jason found his life galloping toward poetry and distant horizons, toward the stars and the sea!
Mysterious Batman: Young man, put on these little green scale shorts and become my Robin!
Jason: No! Ugh, bleurgh! Batman! For God's sake, there's a lunatic here!
Mysterious Robin: Young man, put on these little green scale shorts and become his Robin!
Jason: No! Are you serious?! Do you need to see a doctor? I know a doctor who's great at dealing with psychological problems.
Mysterious red-and-black man: Young man, put on a red hood and become Little Red Riding Hood!
Jason: ...No. Seriously? I stopped listening to fairy tales before I was even four. Honestly, I think you're better suited to the name Little Red Riding Hood. No, wait, Mr. Big Red Riding Hood.
Mysterious wizard: Foolish human! Put on the legendary wizard's robe and become a magical boy! I, in my great mercy, will allow you to be my student!
Jason: No! Wait! That one sounds good!
What can Jason do after learning magic?
Clinging to the reins of the ostrich beneath him, Jason the Bird*Green Knight swings his wand: Charge, Hathaway! Avada Kedavra!
Wizard: You insolent brat! Call me Master! And do you think I haven't seen Harry P*tter?!
With magic, Jason can also better deal with the troubles caused by traveling through time and space. He sets out to find the reason behind his journeys, and embarks on brand-new adventures with his friends!
Eddie: Jason's riding an ostrich, and it's green! Bird, green! It sounds better as Bird*Green Knight!
Rose: For God's sake, Eddie! I hope that's a bad joke!
Jason: What do you think, then? What title would suit me? Honestly, the only thing I can think of is Little Red Riding Hood!
Rose: I stopped listening to fairy tales when I was one, kid. Let me think. How about the Count of Naples?
Jason: Hey!
Eddie: I agree! Hahahahahahaha!
Mysterious Jason Peter Todd: Hey, Jason! Ready for the future?
Jason: Absolutely!
Reader's guide:
1. This is a DC fan-fiction adventure series made purely to serve the story. It takes place in an original fan-fiction multiverse and is not connected to official storylines. Similar events may occur, but they do not happen on the same Earth. Please approach this series with an open mind and be prepared for the possibility that Bruce is African and Lois is an alien. Those were just examples, but to prove how wildly chaotic I am, I really will write a Bruce and Lois like that in this universe.
2. One day, Jason gains the ability to travel between parallel universes. Why?
3. There should only be one version of each person in any given universe.
4. In this universe, Jason and Bruce are not adoptive father and son, but godfather and godson. Jason is still part of the Bat-family, but he is Robin for only a very short time. Since he follows the path of a close-combat mage, he is not a permanent Gotham resident.
5. A small team: Jason, Eddie, and Rose.
Theme: Warm yourself, warm others, and face life's bullshit with a clear head.
