Eleanor was a student from China with a happy family and a smooth life. She never expected to open her eyes and find herself in Britain in the latter half of the nineteenth century.
There, Eleanor met three children she hit it off with. But not long afterward, her father took her away from the country so she could receive treatment for her frail health.
When she returned to Britain, it was to arrange her father's funeral.
There, she met her childhood friends again. They had become pillars of society, but Eleanor realized that one of them seemed to have exchanged identities with someone else.
Still, the odds of running into familiar faces here were low, so she soon struck up a conversation with them and settled in Britain at their suggestion.
After a peaceful stretch of time, she met a detective named Holmes.
Eleanor: ? You say your name is Holmes, so who is that person Conan Doyle wrote about?
Maybe it's just a coincidence, she thought.
A few days later, she saw A Study in Scarlet in the newspaper, written by Watson under the pen name Conan Doyle.
Eleanor: Somehow... that makes sense.
Eleanor: Wait, is this the real Holmes?
The Holmes-Moriarty confrontation:
Moriarty: If you can, come and catch me, Mr. Holmes.
Holmes: I will find the evidence, Professor Moriarty.
Eleanor: (Looking from one to the other) Is this really a proper detective story? Why do these two seem so flirtatious?
After witnessing countless confrontations like this:
Eleanor: I get it. This must be a knockoff Holmes, or else some crack ship fanfiction.
Theme: The purpose of learning is not to understand the world, but to change it
