Entwined

When I learned that Cui Lianyu wanted to marry me, it hit me like a clap of thunder.

Even though he was the young master of the Cui family and we'd grown up together, I wasn't moved in the least.

It was only because, a few years ago, I had heard him say to someone else that I was beautiful but boring. If I ended up with someone who spoke ill of me behind my back, I'd surely wither away and die.

To make Cui Lianyu withdraw this absurd engagement, I went to see him in person and asked whether he had some unspeakable reason for marrying a boring woman like me.

At the mention of "boring," Cui Lianyu's expression immediately darkened.

"You held a grudge all this time over one remark?"

"Yes, I'm exactly the sort of person who holds a grudge. If you want to make amends, hurry up and call off this marriage. A boring woman like me naturally ought to marry a boring man." I'd avoided him for years, and right now, I didn't want to spend another moment under the same roof with him.

Cui Lianyu walked up to me, looking at me with cold eyes.

"You think I'll let you marry someone else?"
