Zhong Wanyi, daughter of Duke Jingguo, one of the founding heroes of the state, had once been the late emperor's choice for crown princess. But because she believed the promise, "One heart for one lifetime," she willingly traveled to the frontier and married the least favored of the Third Prince's brothers.
She had no idea that the Third Prince, carefree and easygoing in public, was harboring sinister ambitions in private. He used her to poison the Duke of Jingguo's family over a long period of time and to harm the military generals at court.
Worse still, while raising an army in rebellion, with provisions running short and morale crumbling, the Third Prince knew Zhong Wanyi was pregnant and still had her boiled alive. He then lied, claiming the princess had willingly sacrificed herself to secure their cause, and distributed her flesh among the soldiers.
Reborn, Zhong Wanyi vowed: The pain I suffered will be repaid a hundredfold.
