Ling Qingheng x Ling Yue
Qingheng, gentle and warm x Yue, stubborn and resilient
My name is Ling Yue. I am no mortal, but the Ling Emperor entrusted with the Moon Sovereign's will, descended from the Ninth Heaven to govern the fortunes of the Ling Kingdom.
I have no true family in this world. The so-called father, brothers, and mother are all illusions created by divine envoys. My brother Ling Qingheng can hear my thoughts; the woman Hua Yuemian can sense my whereabouts; the man Ling Zhemo carries out Heaven's decree. They, along with the people of the Ling Kingdom, are all gods under the Moon Goddess. Each has their own powers, but none are bound to me by blood.
The Pei An Kingdom and the Ling Kingdom have always belonged to separate realms.
The Pei An Emperor also came from the celestial realm and wields the power of the Sun God. The small states under his rule are scattered, while the lands of my Ling Kingdom stand apart, each independent and owing allegiance to neither.
In truth, the people of both kingdoms are all gods from the heavens, each bearing divine powers as they dwell in the mortal world.
In the days when war fires burned without end, I thought it was a calamity without cause, and that every parting and reunion was mere chance.
Only when messages on the wind and glances over shoulders slowly formed a clear picture did I realize that two invisible hands were scripting the days and nights of this world.
The laws of Heaven can determine the fortunes and misfortunes of nations, and decree their rise and fall, but they could never foresee that I, an emissary of the Moon Goddess, would develop feelings for the “god” who governs fate, feelings I should never have had.
Thus, they did everything in their power to stop us.
Only when every disguise had fallen away and the voice of “Good Heaven” sounded once more did I understand the purpose of this trial. The wars and injustice were not meant to destroy me, but to make me grow a backbone capable of cleaving through delusion in the mire.
Their hidden identities above the clouds were not meant to spy on me, but to keep their divinity from being exposed too soon and frightening away the roots I had sunk deep into the mortal world.
