She found a picturesque little town and settled down to recover.
She never expected to see him again.
Just two or three years later, the college boy she’d known had transformed into a hot new name in tech, a successful entrepreneur worth hundreds of millions.
Shen Xiaoyu felt both relieved and worried.
She was relieved that the young man had finally escaped his fate and made something of himself.
She was worried because it seemed he still held a grudge against her.
He appeared before her with a female companion and opened with a cutting remark: “Shen Xiaoyu, I thought you’d be doing so well. Turns out you’re nothing special.”
He’d been gone for years, and his temper had only gotten worse.
Shen Xiaoyu told herself not to take it personally, but after his repeated provocations, she finally lost her temper. “What exactly do you want?”
He stared at her, his eyes brimming with turbulent emotions he couldn’t put into words. “What do I want?”
He grabbed her and pinned her hard against the wall. “I’ve been going insane missing you, for fuck’s sake. What do you think I want?”
Shen Xiaoyu froze.
To Chi Ye, Shen Xiaoyu was his home. He hated this and that, but what he really hated was that she’d abandoned him.
He fought his way to the top just to ask her one question: Am I worthy of your attention now?
From beginning to end, all he wanted was for her to say, “Chi Ye, come here.”
