2025.8.28 Posting a blurb
My next-door neighbor moved in.
He's 16, too, and seems like a really cheerful person.
He moved into an apartment where the rent isn't cheap, all by himself. Maybe he's some rich family's young master?
A few days later, after spending some time with him, I realized he's incredibly kind and friendly (bold).
After running into each other in the hallway a few times, he even started offering to take my trash downstairs!
A good person. (My own endorsement)
But then I noticed he often came home late, and sometimes went out in the middle of the night.
I took back my earlier guess that he was a rich family's young master.
He's clearly...
A bona fide delinquent!
Excerpt from Yuki Fujimine's mental diary

Even though he's a delinquent, he's actually so good to me!
Yuki Fujimine fell into thought.
In the neon-lit streets, especially in Yokohama,
who knows how many people start out as delinquents and end up criminals?
My neighbor is still young. I have to reform him and stop him from going further down the wrong path! (Clenches fist)
I have to put it into action, not just talk about it. Whatever kind of person my neighbor becomes in the future, I'll have played a part!

A year after joining the Port Mafia, Chuuya Nakahara had saved up enough money to buy an apartment in a certain building outright.
The guy next door was around his age. He'd heard he was an artist.
They got along well. The other guy was completely on the straight and narrow, and often brought him homemade food, so Chuuya returned the favor and occasionally took his trash out or helped with other little things.
Little by little, they became close.
They had each other's keys and would drop by each other's places now and then to clean, relax, and so on...
Sometimes...
He meant sometimes, he thought that his future lover would probably be just like that guy, Yuki Fujimine.
The man in the hat reached up to press down on his hat, hiding most of his face.

Lately, Chuuya Nakahara had often been distracted at work, and one of his sharp-eyed subordinates noticed.
The subordinate asked his boss what was on his mind.
"Say, when two people get along really well, have each other's house keys, and often go to each other's places to cook, relax, clean, and hang out... what kind of relationship would that be?"
The subordinate looked indignant and blurted out, "Couples are such a hassle. Why don't they just move in together!"
Chuuya's eyes widened. "W-What couple?! Can't they just be good friends?"
The experienced subordinate scoffed. "Mr. Nakahara, 'friends' is just the lie people like them tell to keep up appearances. Who knows how much they've been kissing when no one's looking."
Seeing his boss turn bright red, the subordinate realized he'd messed up. He'd forgotten his boss was still an innocent young man. He gave an awkward cough. "But there could be other kinds of relationships, too."
"What other kind?"
The subordinate declared, "They're siblings. That's the only other possibility!"
After work, Chuuya Nakahara sat alone in his office, pondering the meaning of life.
At seven thirty that evening, his phone rang.
He instinctively snatched it up, then froze.
Afterward, he deliberately slowed down and lit up the screen.
[Chuuya, when are you coming home? I made something tasty and I'm waiting for you.]
Crap, it was already so late. The other guy must still be waiting for him to eat!
Chuuya grabbed his hat and hurried home in a panic.
His motorcycle roared as it raced down the street. With the wind in his face, Chuuya's lips curled into a smile.
Whatever. Why was he overthinking it?
Even if he and Yuki weren't a couple yet, one day he'd turn their relationship into one!

His neighbor had achieved financial freedom.
Fine wine, cigarettes, luxury cars, and a private home.
The police still hadn't come knocking after all this time, so his neighbor probably hadn't committed any crimes yet.
Life went on as usual.
Until one day, his neighbor suddenly confessed to him.
Yuki Fujimine was so dazzled by his good looks that he absentmindedly agreed to date him.
The next day, the other guy went out to collect protection money.
Yuki Fujimine stared blankly at his drawing tablet.
How could this be...
Now he was even more worried that the other guy would get sent to prison?!!
QAQ
Yuki Fujimine decided to ask his cousin Yukiko Kudo, who was married and had taken her husband's surname, for help.
-[Yukiko, I've started dating the guy next door... If he gets arrested someday, could my brother-in-law put in a good word with the police?]
-[???]
Notes:
1. The characters will definitely be OOC. OOC warning.
2. This is a sweet slice-of-life story.
3. Simple plot, amateur writing, shallow characterization. It's all due to the author's lack of skill.
4. The author only watches the TV series and doesn't follow the manga, so manga-related plot points won't be included.
5. Yuki will eventually be 15 cm taller than Chuuya!
(Chuuya will be the only short top in this story. Lights a cigarette.jpg)
6. More notes to come if I think of anything.
