Chu Ying was a parasitic flower with no ability to support himself. Left with no one to rely on after his husband's death, Chu Ying secretly got involved with Song Chenghua to survive. Just as he thought life was becoming stable again, the Song family was exiled for corruption.
Chu Ying became a widowed husband. To avoid gossip, he attached himself to a scholar. Fortunately, the scholar passed the palace exam and placed third, and was willing to take him into his household. Their peaceful days didn't last long before the scholar died in the line of duty.
Just then, the capital descended into chaos over the succession struggle, and Chu Ying lost his means of survival. While fleeing, he came across a physician. Taking advantage of the physician's soft heart, Chu Ying got him to support him willingly, and gained delicious food and a warm home.
Meanwhile, Song Chenghua cleared his name and returned to the capital, intent on taking Chu Ying away.
The main characters are all brainless villains. They're written as antagonists. Don't imitate or learn from them; this story offers no bad influence.
