The first time Shi Yuri saw Cheng Yanjin, she thought he would be a good opportunity.
Her friend teased her, “Someone that important is way out of your league.”
Shi Yuri scoffed. “Who said I’m trying to get close to him? I’ll dump him as soon as I’ve had my revenge.”
And she did.
Their breakup was ugly. Cheng Yanjin gripped her shoulders so hard it hurt, gritting his teeth.
“Shi Yuri, do you dare swear to it?”
Shi Yuri mocked him for having been too well protected, never considering reality and being far too idealistic.
Cheng Yanjin’s eyes were bloodshot. No one had ever fooled him so thoroughly, like he was an idiot.
In the end, he left her with just one sentence: “Shi Yuri, you have a heart made of grass.”
They met again three years later in a hospital outpatient clinic.
Shi Yuri hurriedly asked a nurse where to pay, not even noticing Cheng Yanjin beside her, whom she had bumped into and knocked against the wall.
Later, the two chatted outside the hospital. Cheng Yanjin’s brow furrowed tighter and tighter.
Why had she gotten so thin?
Looking at her exhausted face, he could no longer bring himself to say all the reproachful things he had wanted to.
Shi Yuri spoke first. “Long time no see. I didn’t think we’d run into each other here.”
With his hands in his pockets, he teased her.
“Looks like fate hasn’t let us go yet.”
