Nezha: the Spiritual Pearl Returns to Its Place
Nezha is the third son of King Li Jing and Mrs. Yin. His elder brothers are Jin Zha and Muzha. His name comes from the special circumstances of his birth: Mrs. Yin gave birth to a flesh ball after three years and six months of pregnancy. After Li Jing split the flesh ball, Nezha jumped out of it. The image of Nezha originated from the Buddhist protector god, and was later absorbed by Taoism, becoming a demon-conquering god respected by both Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
