I want a proper background-character story. Don't have them take on the role of a cannon fodder character, and don't have a System suddenly assign missions to offend the male and female leads just to get their attention. The protagonist can be universally adored, but they absolutely must desperately avoid the leads. Keep the plot focused, and don't make the protagonist stupid and naive.
