The new book has a male protagonist with no cp. The writing is quite interesting so far, not cliché. It's not particularly brainless, but it's not a cool novel. It doesn't follow the main line of the original book at the moment. It's about the protagonist's own story which is pretty good. I've read too many brainless cool novels and heartthrobs, so it's time to read something light.

This one! There are plots about the Zhang family and the persecution of the "original" characters. Especially the part about the little official is heart-warming. Don't leave without reading the title and introduction. It's really super good! The protagonist is a careless person, and they are a combination of being brainless and unhappy. The plot is also very interesting, and the original characters in it are all very distinctive.
