The second book has emotional lines, but they are buried in the plot. I think the first one is the scariest, and so on. The second book has chapters about space and time distortion, which I think are quite clearly written. The third book, I think, has more reasoning and is also written very clearly. The authors of these three books are all very capable, and at least the writing is not messy.

The only possible weird point is the national destiny, and other countries' unnatural remarks. In the middle, the people of my own country will also say unnatural remarks but are controlled by the weird stories. In short, if you can accept the above, then this book is really good.
