Is There Any Book That Is More Lighthearted and Funny Without Being Intellectually Inflated or Pretentious or Slapped in the Face?

I'm really disgusted with people who pretend to be awesome every day. Just cheat and make a fortune in silence. The villain works so hard but gets slapped in the face by someone who gets something for nothing? It's okay to be cheated and beaten in real life, but why should I show off my face when I'm reading a novel?
