Looking for Stories Set in the Original Pokemon World, Not on Earth or in an Original World

I think what draws me to Pokemon isn't just the creatures, but the world itself. If it's only about the creatures, then the setting might as well be Earth or some original world. To me, it's just an academy-city novel wearing Pokemon's skin. The formula never changes.
