Secretly in Love with My Senior's Cousin, I Fled While Pregnant and Got Caught

The day Su He gets into the graduate program of translation master Wu Yulan, she thinks her life is finally about to take off.

Then she meets a man at her advisor's house. He's cool and refined, and her heart pounds as she falls for him at first sight.

Three weeks later, her advisor's biological grandson, Qi Chen, corners her outside her dorm. "Su He! Be my girlfriend!"

She turns him down. Qi Chen smiles. "Don't you want to stay on Grandma's translation project?"

Su He: "Fine, let's date."

Only later does she learn that the "big brother" Qi Chen keeps talking about is that very man: Lu Hongshen, the head of the Lu family in the capital, and Qi Chen's biological cousin.

That night, Su He cries her eyes out. I'm doomed. I fell for my boyfriend's big brother. What kind of cruel fate is this?

Her roommate Song Shi listens, then calmly hands her a tissue. "Men are just ladders. Get the resources, and that's all that matters."

Su He: "...But I climbed the wrong ladder."

Later, after Qi Chen gets into trouble and is sent abroad, the Shen family holds a banquet. Lu Hongshen is plied with alcohol until he's dead drunk. Looking at the man who has passed out, Su He tells herself, just this once.

A month later, two lines.

Su He: Run.

Five years later, on the streets of Ning City, she's taking her son to school when a luxury car slowly drives past. The window reflects a face she's spent years trying to escape, even in her dreams.

Su He's hand slips, and she tumbles into the roadside greenery along with her bike.

Her son cries, "Mom! Did you see a ghost?"

Su He: "Something worse than a ghost."

She puts her home on the market through an agent that very night, planning to run away for the second time. But the next day, Song Feichen corners her at her door. "Miss Su, I heard you're selling your place? If you sell now, you'll lose half its value."

Su He: "...Were you sent by Lu Hongshen?"

Song Feichen: "No. I'm here to remind you that your son looks exactly like my buddy."

Su He: Damn.
