After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Pick Up a Lucky Little Darling and Go Farming

A down-and-out scholar with a little girl in tow, while the whole village waits to laugh at Liang Hanmo starving to death.

His former fiancée is even more brazen, flaunting herself with a newly minted xiucai: “A cripple belongs in the mud.”

But who would have guessed that the three-year-old girl is a born treasure magnet?

She picks up a bird's nest on a whim, and inside are early-ripening, cold-resistant ears of double-cropping rice;

Playing hide-and-seek in a valley, she steps on the ground and breaks through to a vast hidden vein of smokeless coal.

Liang Hanmo puts ancient farming techniques to use from the start, turning the soil of thousands of acres with a three-foot wooden plow and storing ten thousand dan of grain to end the great famine in the north.

He passes all three imperial exams with top honors and is celebrated in the capital!

The once-proud xiucai has his qualifications revoked and ends up begging in the streets, while his wicked uncle kneels until his knees are raw, begging to be let inside.

The capital's powerful families want to use blood ties to take his daughter?

Chief Councilor Liang presents a memorial in the throne room, laying bare the whole scheme: “Who in this realm dares take my daughter?”
