Every Time I Teach a Disciple, I Forget Someone

Every time I take on a disciple, I lose a piece of my own past.

In the past, Shen Zhuo bore seven paths. In a single night on the high platform, he returned them all. His Dao power was drained, his memories began to fall away piece by piece, and he became an ordinary steward in the laborers' courtyard.

Every path I pass on gives birth to a stronger one within me.

But the price is cruel: every time I pass on a path, I forget a real person or event. Passing on a hundred paths is an obsession, but the end may be losing myself completely.

My first disciple, A Yan, was born like a bottomless bowl: any Dao he receives keeps leaking away.

I passed the path of "fire" on to him.

The sect's attention is already fixed firmly on the woodshed courtyard.

Surveillance, records, signatures and fingerprints: every one of A Yan's transgressions is charged to me.

Passing on the Dao is a gift and a curse.

My disciples will grow stronger step by step, while I slowly forget who I am.

[The opening arc tells the complete story of the first disciple. More disciples will appear later.]
