The Day We Settled the Score, My Cold-Hearted Ex-Husband Regretted Everything

[Contemporary Marriage] [A Misplaced First Love] [Workplace Comeback] [Never Looking Back] [The Ex Who Gets His Comeuppance]

After three years of marriage, Cheng Jianwei has been the Xu family's most obedient "walking blood bank."

She earns over ten thousand yuan a month to support the household. She learns to cook and burns her hands on hot oil, only to be rewarded with a moldy storage room and her husband Xu Yanzhou's unrelenting cold shoulder.

On a night when a super typhoon is raging, the window frame bursts apart, and Cheng Jianwei curls up, shivering in icy water.

Her husband, who hasn't come home all night, sends her just one message:

"Did you bring the pothos and succulents in from the balcony? Don't let them get blown to death."

In that moment, Cheng Jianwei sees everything clearly.

That pothos was a gift from Shen Qingci, his first love from the creative park next door.

And right then, Xu Yanzhou is ironing his shirt and spending fifty thousand yuan stolen from Cheng Jianwei's secondary card to cozy up with his first love in a fancy restaurant.

Did he think Cheng Jianwei was a pushover who wouldn't dare make a scene?

When her vicious sister-in-law tries to drug and ruin her at a karaoke bar, Cheng Jianwei records the evidence and calls the police, getting her sister-in-law a shiny pair of handcuffs.

When her mother-in-law throws a tantrum and demands money to build a new house, Cheng Jianwei cancels the family's secondary cards on the spot, applies for a court order to preserve their assets, and cuts off the whole family.

Xu Yanzhou finally panics. He kneels in the pouring rain, pounding on the door and begging her to take him back. "Jianwei, you're the only one I love. Please, just look at me one more time!"

The door opens. Lu Jingchuan, a rising business tycoon, puts an arm around Cheng Jianwei's shoulders, his gaze icy.

"Mr. Xu, you still haven't paid back all the 800,000 yuan you transferred out during your marriage. Keep harassing my wife, and you'll be joining your little sister."
