Everyone in this world has a temple inside them. The temple houses gods: the God of Flesh, the God of Bones, and the God of Souls.
As long as the Heart Sovereign lives, the gods obey. When the Heart Sovereign dies, demons run wild.
Xu Xin'an is the fourth Heart Sovereign to inhabit this body.
By day, he is a young doctor of the Zhuyou discipline, healing the sick and saving lives, and treating the poor for free.
By night, he takes up his blade and enters the temple: he suppresses whatever has gone out of control, and slays whatever comes from outside.
The evil gods he slays are sealed inside the temple and become his weapons.
"I'm a doctor. If I say you're sick, then you're sick."
"The gods inside you say the same thing."
