Back to 1987: All Six Daughters Are Treasures

Only on his deathbed did Zhang Hewen learn the truth.

The "son" he had cherished all his life wasn't his biological child.

And none of the six daughters he'd looked down on for half their lives had stayed by his side.

When he opened his eyes again, it was 1987.

That year, he resented his wife for failing to bear him a son, got drunk and caused trouble, forced his eldest daughter to quit school, and drove a perfectly good family to the brink.

His wife took their six daughters to the river.

Zhang Hewen chased after them like a madman.

In this life, he didn't want a son anymore.

He only wanted to save his wife and daughters.

When the family ran out of rice, he went down to the river to fish.

When his daughters needed tuition, he set sail in the middle of the night.

While others fought tooth and nail to have sons, he stayed by his six daughters. With a fish, a net, and a boat, he put their broken family back together.

The villagers all laughed at him: "Six daughters, and they'll all belong to someone else's family one day. Who are you earning all that money for?"

Zhang Hewen had only one thing to say: "Why should my daughters belong to someone else?"

Years later...

One became a teacher, another a nurse. One took charge of the accounts, another crawled into the hold to repair the engines...

Those who had once laughed at him for having no son finally fell silent when they saw the Zhang family gathered around a table full of people.
