After Grandma Passed Away, Half the Village Owed Me a Meal

A grounded rural-urban story of emotions and personal growth, featuring a return to the countryside, family ensemble, food, and mutual redemption. Xiaoman finds her grandmother's ledger of favors at home and discovers that half the village owes her grandmother a meal. The biggest debt belongs to the Qin family, who have been at odds with the He family for fifty years. As she goes around collecting these "debts," she hosts a wedding feast for a bachelor, throws a birthday banquet for an elderly villager, competes in a banquet cook-off against a neighboring village's master, and fights off an attempted takeover by Dingsheng, a chain specializing in ready-made banquets. Her wariness toward Qin Yan gradually turns to reliance, while Qin Yan goes from dismissing her as a "spoiled city girl" to silently taking every burden off her shoulders.
