Beast Taming: From Backup at a Top School to Number One

In Qingdao, Wang Xinghe was the star player on his school team.

At Jinghua University, he has to fight for a spot on the roster first.

The geniuses here have trained professionally since childhood. Each has their strengths in singles or doubles, and even the substitutes are players he'd love to face in a serious match.

Then there are his two spirit beasts:

The Ice Penguin won't put down its comics, while the Windshadow Hound is already fired up and ready to drag him into another round of training.

One slacks off whenever it can, while the other is even more eager to improve than its beastmaster.

Still, Wang Xinghe thinks that with them by his side, he can take on any opponent.

Training, tryouts, fighting for a spot, learning to work with his teammates, and challenging the prestigious schools.

The tricks that used to win him matches sometimes work here, but sometimes get completely dismantled.

If he loses, he trains. If he doesn't understand, he learns.

As for the star player's spot, he's had his eye on it since the day he walked through the door.

Then one day, the team tournament reaches its deciding match.

His teammates call out behind him and entrust him with the final game.

Wang Xinghe grins.

This time, the others are the ones who have to challenge them.
