A Little One Travels Between Two Worlds: Sui Sui Leads the Village Through the Famine

A natural disaster sends rocks tumbling down the mountain, completely cutting a mountain village off from the outside world. There’s no food, and one villager after another is on the verge of starving to death. Six-year-old Suisui goes up the mountain looking for food and accidentally finds a jade pendant that opens a passage between two worlds. On one side is a desolate village, cold, hungry, and lifeless; on the other is a bustling morning market in a well-stocked town. With a little bamboo basket on her back, she gathers wild greens and mushrooms in the mountains, then trades them at the market for rice, flour, salt, and sugar. Her tiny shoulders carry the hopes of the whole village. Suisui lifts her little face and says, “Don’t be afraid, everyone. With Suisui here, we’ll definitely have enough to eat!”
