They Asked Me to Reformulate the Medicine, So I Turned the Whole Industry Upside Down

Guan Shu, the youngest tenured professor in Stanford's history and one of the world's ten most disruptive scientists, flipped a table in the White House after an argument and fled back to his home country.

He ended up inheriting a nearly bankrupt little workshop and a "Pharmaceutical Makeover System" that could disguise medicine as health supplements.

And so, Xia Country's first lozenge that could "actually cure diabetes" was born. It cost seventy to make and sold for ninety-eight, earning just ten per box.

He gave away rice and cooking oil and held lectures, only to be mocked by his peers as a pyramid schemer. Scalpers jacked the price up to five hundred, so he slashed it overnight. When a pharmaceutical company selling exorbitantly priced drugs came asking to collaborate, he drove them out with one line: "Do poor people deserve to live, too?"

Then an old man who had stopped taking his medication collapsed and was rushed to the ICU. The internet exploded: #GuanShuIsAFraud trended as people doxxed him, blockaded his factory, and sent him to prison.

Just as his reputation collapsed and all seemed lost...

Academician Xiao of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released a two-hundred-page report overnight: "How is this a health supplement? It's a nuclear bomb that could save six hundred million people!"

Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences all publicly backed him. The old man woke up, the results were astonishing, and the comments section filled with people bowing in apology: "We're sorry. We were blind."

Guan Shu merely smiled. "Don't bow. The next product, a special-effect epilepsy pill, is already in the works."
