Synopsis:

Three-and-a-half-year-old Su Nuannuan has a little secret no one knows.

She can hear the voices of “those who never made it home” coming from old objects.

From a charred police badge, an anti-drug officer calls out, “Nuannuan, don't look for me. Find my mom.”

From a misshapen helmet, a firefighter smiles and says, “I promised a child I'd bring down her kite.”

From a rusty military canteen, a young soldier says, his eyes red, “Comrade, no one even knows my name yet.”

With a pink backpack on her shoulders and a box of old belongings in her arms, Su Nuannuan stands outside the police station.

“Uncle Policeman, I found so many heroes who want to go home.”

At first, everyone thinks the child is talking nonsense.

Until the identity of an anti-drug officer missing for years is confirmed, until a letter from home lost for eighty years is read aloud at a martyr's grave, and until an entire city lights up for a nameless firefighter.

Later, the state establishes a “Homecoming Task Force” for her.

The whole internet waits for the next time Nuannuan calls out: “Aunties and uncles, someone wants to go home!”
