After the Divorce, My Sharp-Tongued Ex-Husband Keeps Denying His Feelings

[Arrogant, sharp-tongued, scheming CEO x Radiant, no-nonsense, top-tier beauty lawyer]

At a charity gala, Fu Jingzhou took the stage as the donor representative. In three sentences, he managed to bring up his ex-wife Li Wu’s "illustrious deeds": "I’d like to thank my ex-wife. She taught me what it means to spend money like water, and what it means to divorce as if cutting off your own arm."

The audience burst into laughter.

Li Wu stood up from the back row with a glass of champagne in hand. Her red dress trailed along the floor, and her smile shone brighter than the spotlights. "How kind of you, Mr. Fu. I should thank you too, for teaching me what it means to be as stubborn as a rock, yet still put on a show of virtue."

The whole room fell silent.

Fu Jingzhou came down from the stage with his perfect smile still in place, but that night he cornered her in the parking garage. "You leaked the documents for that cross-border merger case to the other side."

"Where’s your proof?"

"The chat history on your computer."

"Fu Jingzhou." Li Wu set her champagne glass on the roof of his car. Its base struck the metal with a crisp clink. "You hacked into my computer in the middle of the night just to check on this? You might as well admit you still love me."

Fu Jingzhou’s Adam’s apple bobbed. His voice was taut. "I’m only protecting the company’s interests."

"Perfect, then." Li Wu leaned closer, her lashes almost brushing his jawline. "I’ve taken the case. I’ll go up against your opponent to the very end."

Later, word around the industry had it that the Fu Group’s CEO drank three iced Americanos before every court hearing to cool his temper. Li Wu’s legal notices always arrived before his coffee, with a note attached: "Have you booked an appointment with rehab yet? Being too stubborn is bad for your health."

One late night, Fu Jingzhou was photographed standing alone by the river. His social media update, visible to only one person, read: "The kettle boiled dry."

Li Wu replied instantly: "Get a new kettle, not a new person."
