I Never Expected My Archrival to Spoil Me After Our Arranged Marriage

Lu Xingran's three favorite things in life: arguing with Fu Lingche, watching him get flustered, and leaving him speechless.

Fu Lingche's everyday hobbies: mouthing off to annoy Lu Xingran, running away afterward, and doing it again next time.

Everyone thought they couldn't stand each other, until their parents smiled and handed them a marriage agreement. “The company is in crisis. You two need to get married to save it.”

What a convincing act.

On their first day forced to live together, he cornered Lu Xingran in the kitchen. “Lu Xingran, ask me nicely and I'll get the instant noodles from the top shelf for you.”

She scoffed. “Better to rely on myself than ask you. Move.”

But after stretching up on tiptoe for ages, she turned around to find the cup of noodles sitting safely on top of her head.

Fu Lingche looked down at her. “Shorty.”

Later, when Lu Xingran woke in the middle of the night with a stomachache, Fu Lingche kicked open her door, sweating profusely. “The medicine is here, the water is here, and I'm here.”

Dazed with pain, Lu Xingran asked, “Fu Lingche, why are you so nice to me?”

He froze. “...I'm afraid you'll die and leave me with no one to argue with.”

Later, at a class reunion, someone teasingly asked if Fu Lingche had had a crush on Lu Xingran back in school.

He took a sip of wine and said flatly, “A secret crush? I loved her openly.”

The room fell silent.

The glass in Lu Xingran's hand hit the floor with a crash.

But he only smiled and leaned close to whisper in her ear, “Lu Xingran, do you know your eyes light up every time you argue with me?”

“And I like light.”
