Transmigrate into a Book as a Fake Heir: I Use My Ledger to Crush the Great Houses

A new work is here! Welcome to read my novel on Tomato Novel. I hope you enjoy it. Your support motivates me to write, and I'll do my best to tell every story well!

Xu Yan, a modern forensic accountant, transmigrates into a book as the Shen family's fake legitimate grandson.

A torn page appears in his mind: In three days, the real young master will return. A blood test will reveal the truth, and the impostor will be beaten to death.

He looks down and finds a set of fraudulent ledgers clutched in his hands.

The medicinal herb expenses don't add up, and the duplicate salt-licence register is short by four thousand licences. Following the discrepancies leads him to a military grain scandal on the northern frontier from fourteen years ago. Of the 300,000 shi of grain sent to the front, only 150,000 arrived. The officer in charge of transport was executed along with his entire family, and the Shen family was where the missing 150,000 shi ended up.

Three days later, at a family banquet, Xu Yan reveals his identity in front of everyone and slaps the account books onto the floor.

"Head of the Shen family, Pei Zhi has evidence that the Shen family took 50,000 shi of military grain. If you kill me, these accounts die with me. If you spare me, I'll find out exactly how much dirt Pei Zhi has on you."

"Your choice."

From then on, the fake heir becomes the family's bookkeeper.

He investigates embezzlement, military pay, diversion orders, and dead men collecting salaries. One set of fraudulent ledgers unravels the secrets of powerful clans, the imperial court, and the Chief Minister in the capital.

Shen Chong wants to use him as a blade. The eldest branch wants him to pass them one. The real young master warns him not to dig too deep.

But Xu Yan has done the math. There is no way out, and only one path to survival: balance these books, from beginning to end.

A fake heir transmigrates into a book and investigates the accounts to stay alive from the start. One set of fraudulent ledgers exposes the powerful clans.
