In the third year of the supernatural resurgence, the world was covered by countless "rule dungeons." Everyone who entered a dungeon gained an ability and became a player. The protagonist, Lin Xiu, awakened only an E-rank ability called "Impersonation" and was mocked by everyone: it had no offense or defense, and all he could do was impersonate other people.
That changed when the beginner dungeon, "Abandoned Hospital," opened and Lin Xiu drew a character card: [Deserter]. The rules were simple: act the part and live; fail to convince, and die. While others competed with weapons and supernatural powers, Lin Xiu impersonated the dead to fool evil spirits, impersonated a doctor to control the rules, and impersonated the dean to steal the dungeon's core.
While everyone else was still struggling to survive inside the dungeons, Lin Xiu had already discovered that the ultimate form of impersonation was turning "fake" into "real." He impersonated a god and gained divinity; he impersonated the abyss, and the abyss whispered.
"I'm not impersonating a monster." Lin Xiu stood atop a mountain of ten thousand ghosts. "I am the monster itself."
