The Duke of Rong, once famed throughout the land, is unjustly imprisoned over a case of imperial examination fraud. His aunt, a noble consort, is implicated and sent to the Cold Palace, while his mother, a first-rank noblewoman, is placed under house arrest in the palace.

With a single decree, the hypocritical empress betroths the six Rong sisters to the six men with the worst reputations in the capital.

Just like that, the six Rong sisters go from daughters of a high-ranking family to laughingstocks of the capital overnight.

*

The eldest, Rong Shanxuan, marries Wen Xubai, an unfeeling Vice Minister of Revenue.

The second, Rong Shansheng, marries Su Zhiyu, a Northern Frontier general notorious for bringing death to his wives.

The third, Rong Shanjian, marries Lu Shiheng, an impoverished top scholar who curries favor and climbs the social ladder.

The fourth, Rong Shanzheng, marries Ji Jingxun, a corrupt tycoon whose every inch reeks of money.

The fifth, Rong Shanjun, marries Xie Yunzhi, a fallen crown prince with a vicious temper.

The sixth, Rong Shanguan, marries Yang Yuncheng, a dissolute, debauched young heir.

*

The world laughs at the sisters for marrying husbands worse than one another, never realizing that these six marriages are the opening moves in a carefully planned game by the sisters.

The eldest commands the officials, and the unfeeling vice minister's career connections are all at her disposal.

The second commands the army, and the Northern Frontier's fierce troops obey her every order.

The third commands strategy, putting the impoverished top scholar's talent to full use.

The fourth commands wealth, using the tycoon's vast fortune as her foundation.

The fifth commands the game, with half the fallen crown prince's realm laid out on her board.

The sixth commands people, clearing away the dissolute reputation of the young heir.

*

They don't compete for affection, scheme against each other, or step on their sisters to rise. Six pairs of hands join as one. They will save their father, mother, aunt, and the entire Rong family.

*

And they will make those sitting high above them open their eyes and see clearly:

No matter how "bad" a match the six noble ladies of the Rong family get, they will never admit defeat.
