Underworld Architect: This Taoist Is Fixing Bugs in the Afterlife

【Mystery and the supernatural + faux System setup + no romance】 “Warning! Host’s resentment level has exceeded the limit! Control is about to be lost...” “Wait, wait! Taoist Gu Lingqi is fixing the bug backstage right now. We’ll issue your beginner’s gift pack at once!” Lin Haisen died at the height of his life. His resentment turned into a vengeful spirit, and he nearly slaughtered half a city. Just as he was about to vanish completely, a cold, mechanical voice rang out in his mind: “Congratulations, Host. You have been bound to the ‘Perfect Life Restart System.’ Complete the missions to be reborn and take your revenge, returning to the top!” And so began a carefully staged “Truman Show.” The System assigned a mission: 【Earn your first fortune】. In the real world, Lin Haisen’s grief-stricken father burned a hundred million in spirit money at the funeral altar. In the illusion, an unlimited black card appeared in Lin Haisen’s pocket. The System assigned another mission: 【Move into a luxurious safe house】. In the real world, Lin Haisen’s mother wept as she burned a paper mansion. Gu Lingqi, a Maoshan Taoist well versed in psychology, is the director of this elaborate production. Seated behind his ritual altar, he munches on sunflower seeds and plays the cold, mechanical “System” into a microphone. Using the Lin couple’s prayers, he makes paper offerings appear as “divine artifacts,” all to slowly wear down the vengeful ghost’s fury. It’s a battle of wits between a Taoist trying desperately to keep his lies afloat for the sake of his performance targets and a highly intelligent vengeful spirit trying to exploit a bug and break in from the other side. Only at the very end, when the illusion shatters, does he understand: There was never any System to be reborn through. It was simply his parents, still in the world of the living, burning for him again and again, with tears in their eyes, the rest of his life.
