Sky Screen: I Transmigrate to 1937, and Our Forebears Weep

[Modern-Day Imagination] [No Romance] [System] [Sky Screen] [Historical Recap] [Making Up for Regrets] [Long Live the People]

The day the sky screen lit up, the whole world saw it:

In the winter of 1937, a young soldier in ragged clothes shoved the last half of his frozen bun into a wounded soldier's mouth. Then he leaned against the trench and closed his eyes with a smile.

Lin Zhao is a single mother living with her four-year-old daughter in an old city neighborhood.

She thought the biggest challenge of her life was paying next month's rent.

Until one late night, as she rushed her feverish daughter to the hospital, a beam of light dragged her into the ruins of 1937.

She has only seven days.

Every so often, the sky screen tears open and throws her into a real battlefield.

She can bring modern supplies with her: medicine, food, winter clothes.

But every time she returns, she loses a memory of her daughter.

Mengmeng's voice calling her, the way Mengmeng walks, the look on Mengmeng's face the first time she called her Mom...

One by one, they're being torn from her mind.

She frantically records videos and writes in her diary on her phone, trying to preserve every detail.

But the sky screen has lit up again.

On the screen, a group of fifteen- and sixteen-year-old child soldiers march barefoot through the snow. The youngest has a rifle strapped to his back that's taller than he is.

Lin Zhao wipes away her tears and starts packing supplies.
