Li Mo has a human-player System. In every match, he automatically transforms into an official bot: stiff movement, random shooting, and a garbled ID. Every real player he eliminates earns him a payout, which he can exchange for cash, eyesight, recoil control, or anything else.
He only wanted to quietly make a little money, but one day, in the wilderness of the island map, he came across a girl called "Little Persimmon." Two guys had her cornered in a second-floor bathroom, and she was crying over open mic, "I'll give you my medkits, please don't shoot me." Li Mo couldn't help himself. He vaulted through the window and scored two headshots in three seconds.
Then the girl stuck to him like glue.
Every day, the first thing she said after logging on was, "Brother Momo, are you pretending to be a bot again today?" The second was, "Can I be your little bot companion?" The third was, "I found an eight-times scope. You can have it."
He didn't tell her he had a System, or that he was secretly saving up points from every kill to exchange for superhuman abilities. But Little Persimmon didn't seem to care. All she cared about was whether she could hide in the grass with him in the final circle, and whether she could hear him say, "Good game," after they won.
Later, the whole server learned that a garbled-name bot was picking off top players. Professional teams started tracking his IP, and the platform showed up at his door with a contract. Li Mo glanced at the girl beside him, still foolishly looting a death crate, and closed the System panel.
"No need to look for me," he said, switching on his mic during the livestream. "I only play duos with Little Persimmon."
Yan Xitang was drinking milk tea at the time and choked, coughing for ages.
