Four-Year-Old Sea Girl: A Bucketful of Finds Builds a Home

When she woke up, the most well-behaved little girl at the orphanage had become Su He, a pitiful four-year-old in a coastal fishing village in the 1980s.

Her family was so poor they could barely afford to eat. Her father had broken his leg at sea and was bedridden, while her mother had gone to the city to work and earn money for his medical bills, then vanished without a trace.

Her aunt by marriage came around every few days to fleece them. Their relatives watched coldly from the sidelines. Four-year-old Hehe became the last hope of this broken family.

She didn't cry or complain.

She quietly rolled up her ill-fitting pant legs, picked up a little bamboo basket taller than she was, and walked barefoot toward the mudflats left behind by the receding tide.

She dug for clams, turned over crabs, picked up sea snails, and gathered sea cucumbers...

Her tiny figure stumbled in the sea breeze, her hands covered in bloody scratches and her face smeared with mud. Yet with the most stubborn of smiles, she slowly held together this family on the verge of falling apart.

She healed her despairing father, touched the hearts of the entire fishing village, and brought tears to everyone's eyes.

Hehe had just one wish:

"Save enough money to heal Dad's leg, go to the city and bring Mom back, and keep our family together forever!"
