A Bamboo Basket to the Modern World: A Refugee Village Becomes a Rich Settlement

[Farming and development + travel between past and present + storage space for hoarding supplies + adorable four-and-a-half-year-old + the whole village protects and spoils its little darling]

After three years of severe drought and a landslide that sealed off the mountains, Daliu Village was completely trapped in this dead end.

All the able-bodied young men had been drafted, leaving only a couple dozen elderly, weak, sick, and disabled villagers behind. The bark had been stripped from every tree, and every edible root had been dug up. Sui Sui, a four-and-a-half-year-old orphan raised on the kindness of the whole village, watched helplessly as the blind granny who loved her most lay on the verge of death.

Just as despair set in and everyone awaited their end, the broken bamboo basket Sui Sui always carried suddenly grew hot! A flash of white light, and she and her basket were transported to a huge modern agricultural wholesale market!

At first, she brought back discarded vegetable scraps and near-expiry buns from the market stalls to save the villagers;

Later, she traded wild mountain mushrooms and premium ginseng for discounted rice and high-yield potato seeds;

And after that, she hauled iron farm tools, water pumps, and all sorts of modern supplies back to the village!

She had expected to face human greed, but when the grandparents of Daliu Village saw the little bundle of joy desperately feeding everyone, their eyes held nothing but affection and tenderness.

They protected Sui Sui, ate their fill thanks to the modern food she brought, and hefted sturdy steel hoes. Against all odds, they cultivated this sealed-off wasteland into a peerless paradise, so wealthy that people beyond its borders grew green with envy and wild with desire!
