His Suisui Is Impossible to Placate

[Beijing Elite Families, 12-Year Age Gap, Family Friends With No Blood Relation, Childhood Bond and Secret Crush, He Chases Her After Losing Her, One-on-One Romance]

In a shadowy corridor at a high-society banquet, the proud, distinguished man lets go of all his pride and draws her into his arms, his voice full of regret:

"Suishui, stop avoiding me. Give me one more chance."

She raises a hand and pushes him away firmly, her expression calm.

"Uncle, it's all in the past. I don't like you anymore."

No one in the business world dares to provoke Huo Yanci.

Cold, cruel, and decisive, he never makes an exception or softens for anyone. Then, one day, he falls for a young woman.

That year, Lu Suisui is 16, and Huo Yanci is 28.

The girl transfers from Rongcheng to Beijing for her second year of high school. With her parents posted overseas, she's settled in the Huo family's old residence.

But when the old master realizes the residence is too far from school and feels sorry for the girl having to make the tiring commute every day, he tells Huo Yanci to take her in.

Out of respect for the long friendship between their families, she obediently calls him Uncle.

On a rainy night when she comes down with a high fever, the first stirrings of love quietly take root.

Two years of silent care conceal the girl's grand secret crush.

On her eighteenth birthday, she gathers all her courage and confesses the feelings she's kept hidden for two years.

But all she gets in return is a rejection that is composed, restrained, and distant to the extreme.

The man's features are cold, his voice steady and devoid of emotion, every word restrained yet cruel:

"Suisui, you're still too young to tell dependence from love. We're too far apart in age. We're simply not right for each other."

That one sentence, "We're not right for each other," breaks Lu Suisui's heart completely.

After that, she reins in her feelings and slowly leaves his world.

Only after losing her does Huo Yanci realize, too late, that he's fallen for her.
