Back to the Nineties: The Divorced Woman Strikes It Rich Running the Factory Cafeteria

In 1992, snow fell over a machinery plant in Northeast China, and Song Zhixia was handed divorce papers by her husband. Fang Zhiwen was heading into business to make a fortune, planning to marry his new flame and take their son away, too. She signed the papers, split the household, and took over the cafeteria, making five-jiao boxed lunches so fragrant they filled the factory floor. Her ex-husband mocked her for disgracing herself, the managers suspected she was acting rashly, and local thugs wanted protection money. But when the wave of layoffs hit, her cafeteria became a lifeline for the women, and her hot lunch boxes became the hardest currency in the whole factory. Lu Weicheng, the cold-faced head of security, went from investigating her street stall to helping her catch thieves and protect her shop. In the end, he stood before her and said, "I'll protect you without holding you back." Her regretful ex-husband came to her door, but she was being given a red flower amid the whole factory's blessings. Even the snow looked like wedding candy.
