After Switching from Woman to Man, I Became the Dragon-Aotian Female Emperor

After Shen Zhao died, she was reborn as a man in ancient times.

More absurd still, this body had an outrageously arrogant name: Long Aotian.

As a modern martial arts instructor, Shen Zhao took a long time to accept the fact that she had changed from a woman into a man.

But when she truly saw what this era was like, she suddenly realized that men could study, enlist in the army, wield power, inherit family businesses, and even live like human beings far more easily than women could.

And women?

They could be sold, cast aside, robbed of their property, forced into marriage, and treated as dependents. They might not even have control over their own lives.

Just then, the frontier called for soldiers. Shen Zhao donned armor, took up her blade, and joined the army.

Starting as a recruit everyone looked down on, she trained troops, killed enemies, earned military honors, and seized command, fighting her way step by step through mountains of corpses and seas of blood: squad leader, commandant, general, commander-in-chief.

Until one day, she stood before an army of a million, with soldiers willing to die for her behind her and a decaying dynasty before her.

Shen Zhao finally understood one thing: to change the rules, you first have to become the one who makes them.

So she led her troops into the capital and marched upon the imperial city.

Later, the histories recorded: The new emperor, Long Aotian, quelled the chaos, unified the realm, abolished cruel laws, established schools for girls, granted women household registration, and allowed them to inherit property, do business, enter government service, and enlist in the army.

The court officials all believed they had welcomed a mighty ruler.

Only Shen Zhao herself knew that the person seated on the dragon throne had always been a woman.

In this life, she did not merely intend to be an emperor. She intended to be an empress in her own right.

She would also make sure that from then on, women across the land had a path to follow, books to read, property to inherit, official posts to hold, and lives worth fighting for.
