Mythology Reawakened: I Apply Makeup to Gods at the Funeral Home

Lu Li used to be a mortuary makeup artist at the Anxi Funeral Home, living a peaceful life putting foundation on the dead. Then he took charge of a bizarre corpse that had “died smiling” and accidentally awakened the ultimate contingency left behind by the gods: the [Pantheon].

Three thousand years ago, the gods across the world all “fell,” becoming fragments that sealed the Yin-Yang Road connecting to the abyss. Now the seal has crumbled. Ancient monsters like the Shanxiao, Bifang, and Qiongqi have become terrifying rule-bound monsters, invading modern cities in a frenzy.

While other inheritors of divine power risk their lives to reinforce the seal and use brute force to withstand their terror, Lu Li has stumbled upon an unconventional path: the Shanxiao can only imitate others because it has no sense of self? Give it the unimaginative name “A Hua” and break the rules to bring it to heel. The flame of falsehood can't be doused even with water? Tell it a “truth” with absolute conviction, and it goes out in an instant. The ancient Four Perils, Qiongqi, feeds on moral anxiety? He simply rewrites the myth by force and starves it to death.

“What's the fun in fighting and killing? Why don't we sit down and change the rules instead?”

In this desperate, treacherous era, with dangers at every turn and great powers scheming beneath the surface, watch as a laid-back mortician who lives for a laugh uses his overwhelming information advantage and the Pantheon to collect the fallen gods. He never wanted to be a savior. He only wants to give this sick world a dignified new face!
