In the autumn of 2010, a bloody disaster struck Miaozi Town overnight. The honest young Gao Muyang accidentally took a life and became a fugitive. With no home to return to and nowhere else to go, he was cornered.
He found a way to survive in desperation by taking the mountainwise veteran Zhang Zhenbang as his master and stepping into the underworld trade of tomb raiding and feng shui.
Ancient tombs formed a chain across Qingshi Ridge, where the mountains concealed secrets dating back a thousand years.
Bearing the lingering will of his ancestors and a bloodline-given talent, he could read the mountain's qi, identify burial soil, and break countertraps. With only the skills of a mountain boy, he dared to enter deadly tombs no one else would investigate.
Within the crew, hearts were as deep as abysses: veteran members held grudges and plotted against him, openly and secretly pushed him aside, and secretly colluded with outsiders.
Beneath the tombs, dangers lurked without end: pits that claimed lives, ancient formations that trapped the living, and old grudges buried for years.
At every turn, he risked his life and learned to read people.
Traps could be broken and haunted tombs could be entered, but the hardest danger to guard against was always the living people at his side.
A twenty-year journey through desolate tombs, a deadly game of human hearts.
The fugitive youth braved the darkness of the deep mountains and, amid heaps of abandoned graves and the shifting hearts of men, fought his way to a clear conscience and a path home of his own.
