[Bring tissues and get ready to cry + two miserable leads + wealthy heir disowned and locked in a basement + lowly, stammering heroine + family power struggles + two wounded souls saving each other + maximum tearjerker angst + happy ending]

I was born with a stutter. It takes three breaths just to get a sentence out.

While working as a servant in a wealthy household, I heard chains rattling in the basement.

The blood-covered boy grabbed my ankle and rasped, “Water…”

The lady of the house descended the steps in her high heels and sneered, “Give him even one drop of water, and I’ll cut out your tongue.”

He went to America for her and stayed there for four years. She kept his shop running for four years. When he returned, he went by Luke, took control, cleared the way, and dealt with every person who had bullied her, one by one.

But she was still the stuttering girl who could barely speak, and he was still the outcast who had crawled out of the cellar.

He cornered her in an alley and said, one word at a time, “You gave me a mouthful of water. I’ll spend the rest of my life repaying you.”

She cried and gestured, “I might never be able to speak again.”

He pressed his forehead against hers. “You don’t have to say a thing. You’re already more than enough for me.”

[Note: A beautifully written emotional story, packed with tearjerking moments and a powerful aftertaste. Bring tissues before you dive in.]
